Murray's Cheese
Bleecker St.
About Murray's Cheese
Founded in 1940 in the heart of the Greenwich Village, the original Murray's still occupies a charming, humble nook on Bleecker Street, yet it holds a much more prominent place in the world of cheese. Under the tutelage of its owner Rob Kaufelt, Murray's name has grown in proportion to its incredible inventory of the exotic, delicious, and stinky. Where else can you find mozzarella made from Water Buffalo milk? Many of the selections come from small producers from Vermont to Spain who employ time-tested, traditional techniques to achieve authentic taste and texture. While the downtown Murray's carries close to everything, the Grand Central Market location still features enough of a selection to meet most anyone's demands.
