About Meadows Family Farm
Kenneth and Dani Strader raise Animal Welfare Approved beef cattle, laying hens, and hogs on Meadows Family Farm in Julian, NC. Meadows Family Farms has been owned, operated, lived on and loved by four generations of the Strader family. Kenneth and Dani have been the current stewards for 35 years, raising all four of their children on the farm. Today they watch as their granddaughter chases chickens around the yard and are proud to know that their choice to manage their land and animals ethically and sustainably is helping to preserve and enhance the farm for future generations. Since the 1960s the farm has grown many things, from tobacco to organic heirloom tomatoes. About two years ago, Kenneth and Dani decided to re-embrace the old philosophy of livestock management. By investigating the methods of their ancestors, Kenneth and Dani learned how their farm could be operated without the use of genetically modified crops, chemicals, fungicides and pesticides. Today, they raise their grassfed beef and pasture-raised pork, and laying hens all naturally, on organic pastures. Their work may be hard, but the health and happiness of their animals and their land make the long days worthwhile, and Kenneth and Dani are proud to be a part of Animal Welfare Approved.
