Several years ago the team behind The Tortilla Press had the idea to create a new dining experience, right in South Jersey that would offer the freshest food, beautifully prepared, consistently delicious, and delivered in a fun and festive atmosphere. The Tortilla Press is that idea come to delicious life. They are Mexican "influenced" — and that makes them very, very different. They offer meats and accompanying side dishes familiar to the American palate, but seasoned with the clean, savory flavors of Mexican herbs and sauces that show a truly global inspiration. And as The Tortilla Press thinks more globally, it's easier to see that the contribution – and impact – their actions have on the world and on their local community. And that's why it becomes incumbent on everyone to do their part, however large or small, to make their footprints greener ones. At The Tortilla Press, their committed to looking at every aspect of their operation and evaluating ways they can be more considerate of the environment. First, they eliminated the use of Styrofoam take out containers and have replaced them with biodegradable ones. These are made of sturdy paper with a waved interior to prevent spillage. They also replaced all of their light bulbs, recycle bottles, cans and cardboard; use fair trade organic coffee; offer complete vegetarian and vegan menus; utilize sustainable fish from NJ, whenever possible; and finally, continue to forge strong bonds with local farmers to ensure that much of their offering are created with wholesome, locally made ingredients.
